The Nursing team is headed by the Principal Nursing Officer, Mrs. Prossy Kibuuka.
Our Nurses greatly contribute to the success and stability healthcare in the Hospital and to the mental and physical wellbeing of the patients. They give not only their book knowledge, but a piece of their heart to each and every patient they care for.
The Nurses at Mengo Hospital are caring, understanding, and nonjudgmental and have a strong ability to empathize with patients from all walks of life. We have Registered&Enrolled Nurses plus Midwives who deal with the sick and injured and their families on a daily basis, and show them that they truly care about their situations. Being sympathetic about the patient’s hospital experiencegoes a long way towards improving patient care. Although They constantly deal with stressful situations including emergencies, traumatic events and tragic illnesses our Nurse are well trained to remain calm and think clearly under these circumstances to be able to successfully carry out their duties.
Our Nurses have the ability to communicate with doctors, patients and colleagues in a very fast-paced environment. They also listen carefully to Doctors’ instructions and take perfect notes when needed. They are able to follow directions without a problem and easily communicate with patients and families. The effective communication skills that our Nurses have create a high level of patient satisfaction while preventing medical mishaps.
They perform all of their responsibilities with the utmost accuracy and detail. They play a major role in assessing and treating patients’ medical conditions, and when dealing with the health of another human being, there is little room for error, so Nurses responsibly carry out their duties at all times. They keep track of and record minor changes in a patient’s health or behavior, because neglecting to notice something could end up having serious consequences. Since emergencies can occur at any time, and Nurses are needed through the year, they are often required to work overtime, nights, weekends and holidays.
