The Mengo Hospital pharmacy is spear headed by two pharmacists whose roles are

  •  Manage the daily operations of the Pharmacy to ensure smooth workflow and are according to Good Pharmacy Practices.
  • Supervise and mentor Pharmacy staff in the Pharmacy processes and procedures.
  • Provide Medicines related information/advice to clients and other healthcare workers.
  • Liase with medicines regulatory bodies like NDA, PSU on behalf of Mengo Hospital.
  • Ensure production of eye drops and oxygen according to GMP.
  • Promote rational use of medicines in the hospital.
  • Ensure availability of safe, quality, and efficacious medicines and medical consumables
  • Monitoring of medicines inventory movement to ensure accountability of use.
  • Availing safe, quality, and efficacious medicines and medical consumables.
  • Proper storage of medicines and medical consumables according to good storage practices.
  • Dispensing of medicines and medical consumables to internal and external clients.
  • Providing medicines information to internal and external clients.
  • Production of eyedrops and oxygen according to Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP).
  1. Dispensing Nurses
  • Dispense medicines and medical consumables to clients.
  • Provide clients with medicines related information.
  • Ensure that the Pharmacy unit is clean.

2. Pharmacy Assistants

  • Dispense medicines and medical consumables to clients.
  • Provide clients with medicines related information.
  • Ensure that the Pharmacy unit is clean.

3. Pharmacy Technicians

  • Ensure that the Pharmacy units are adequately stocked.
  • Validating prescriptions before filling them.
  • Monitor and track inventory movements.
  • Provide medicine related information to clients.

4. Stores Officers

  • Quantification of medicines and medical consumables needs.
  • Ensure Proper storage of medicines and medical consumables.
  • Reporting on about pharmacy stock.

A client accesses Pharmacy services from the Pharmacy units stationed in various sections of the hospital. Client accesses Pharmacy after the doctor has prescribed for them. They can utilize Pharmacy services in case they want medicines related advice.
