Job Title: Stock Controller (2 positions)
Reports To: Accountant-Operations
Location: Kampala
Nature of job: Full time, 3 years' renewable contract
Job Summary:
The Stock Controller is responsible for effectively and efficiently managing and maintaining stock levels and stock control in the main pharmacy store room, mini pharmacies, wards and theatre to ensure all targets set regarding stock and stock control are achieved for the hospital. The role holder will be responsible for ensuring systems are in place for stock control and verification from purchase to end user, and ensure reconciliations.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure correct unpacking and checking of all stock received
- Measure and evaluate stock activity levels for stock and re-ordering purposes;
- Maintain stock at agreed value targets
- Ensure that expiry dates are checked and managed regularly (quarterly) and ensure the timely return to suppliers and/or write off of stock;
- Eliminate slow moving and redundant stock by means of constant communication with doctors, nursing staff, pharmacy and other stock controllers in the team
- Conduct daily, weekly and monthly cyclical counts for inventory management and control purposes; normally shift basis to ensure shift stock reconciliations.
- Perform daily, weekly and monthly tasks/procedures to ensure all required transactions are completed by Close of Business on the last day of each month;
- Prepare for stock take, data capturing, investigation of discrepancies and finalization of stock take
- Ensure stock transfers, consumable transfers etc. are captured accurately and timely
- Identifying and reporting physical stock variances for action
- Identifying and reporting system stock VS Physical stock variances and suggesting solutions to Management.
Qualifications and Experience:
- The suitable candidate must hold a Minimum Diploma in Accountancy, Stores management, Business Administration or any other related field
- A minimum of (3) years' experience in stock management preferably in hospital or busy health environment with pharmaceutical experience
- Basic computer applications
- High level of integrity
- Good interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
- Excellent numerical skills with high level of attention to detail
- Self-driven and with ability to work independently and report effectively.
- Able to work well in a team environment
- Knowledge and experience of pharmaceutical stock control systems.
