Mengo Hospital is a Church of Uganda Missionary founded Hospital and Private Not-For Profit (PNFP). It is categorized as a General Hospital, but operationally a Referral Hospital. The Missionary Hospital developed into the present-day 300-bed hospital, spread over 22 acres of land at Namirembe Hill in Kampala.

Mengo Hospital seeks to recruit suitably qualified person to fill 2 vacant Managerial positions based at Mengo Hospital Kampala as indicated below, on full time, 3 years’ renewable contracts

Job Title: LABORATORY MANAGER (1) (RE-ADVERTISED)
Reports To: DEPUTY MEDICAL DIRECTOR-CLINICAL SERVICES
Job Summary:
The Laboratory Manager will oversee and co-ordinate all laboratory operations so as to ensure effective support is provided to internal and external clinical care teams.
The position will oversee the continued and consistent delivery of quality, health and safety standards in line with GCLP accredited QMS. The position will be responsible for safety and for the establishment of standard operating procedures. Managerial duties will include scheduling of staff, ordering supplies, quality control standards, overall oversight of laboratory processes, adherence to GCLP, and overseeing maintenance of safety standards.

Qualifications and Experience:

• The suitable candidate must hold a Masters’ degree in: - Medical Laboratory Sciences, Clinical Laboratory Sciences, Laboratory Sciences Management, Immunology and Clinical Microbiology, Molecular Biology
• Ongoing Masters in relevant areas cited above may be considered.
• Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Laboratory Technology, Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Sciences or equivalent
• Formal Training in leadership, Administration and Management is an essential requirement.
• Must be fully licensed with Uganda Allied Health Professionals Council (UAHPC)
• A minimum of (6) six years’ experience working in a medical laboratory with at least (4) four years’ experience as a Laboratory Manager or similar management experience.
• Knowledge and certification in GLP, GCLPs, QMS and other relevant best practices and standards
• Computer literacy
• Ability to maintain a well-motivated team
• Highly analytical, with good communication and interpersonal skills
