New Oxygen Plant

The Oxygen Generating Plant is a gift to the Hospital from the First Baptist Church, McKinney, Texas USA worth USD 180,400, an equivalent of four hundred and seventy million Uganda shillings. The plant has been purchased and construction of the plant house is underway. Once installed it will be able to generate medical grade oxygen and fill cylinders on site with production expected to commence in January 2015. It is hoped that all the hospital beds will be connected to the centrally piped oxygen in not so distant the future and management is optimistic many lives will be saved and healthcare service delivery improved as a result of this new development.
We are grateful for God’s provision through FBC McKinney but would like in a special way to thank Dr. Brent Armstrong, the Team Leader of the First Baptist Church Missions to Mengo Hospital for his tirelessly efforts to make this dream come true.
While at Mengo Hospital in June 2014, the Texas team participated in various activities; renovated Nassolo Children’s Ward by fixing floor tiles among other things; they led prayers and ministered in praise and worship in the Chapel; they conducted bed- side prayers for the sick, and donated gifts to them; held refresher training sessions for the medical staff, held a dinner for the Diploma Students and a thrilling Gospel Music Concert for students in the training schools. Management and staff of Mengo Hospital are highly indebted to the Texas group for their generousity
