Friends of Mengo – UK
UK Friends of Mengo Hospital is a British charity run entirely by volunteers, committed to supporting the work and mission of Mengo Hospital in Kampala, Uganda. Founded in 1959, the group has been a steadfast partner; raising awareness, mobilizing resources, and fostering relationships that strengthen the hospital’s capacity to serve.
Over the years, UK Friends has contributed to a wide range of projects including the renovation and expansion of the operating theatres, improvements to the hospital’s water infrastructure, provision of medical and educational equipment, and support for clinical training and service development. The group also promotes visits and electives to Mengo Hospital and facilitates exchange opportunities for hospital staff.
Working closely with churches, trusts, businesses, and individuals, UK Friends of Mengo is part of a wider global network with affiliated groups in Canada, the USA, and Uganda.
